What we collect
There is no account here: no sign-up, no email address and no profile, so we never ask you for anything that identifies you.
Like any website, our hosting records ordinary technical request logs (IP address, timestamp, the URL requested and your browser’s user-agent string) for security and diagnostics. We do not use them to build a profile of you. Advertising and analytics are covered in their own sections below.
What your browser sends us
Daily leaderboard (GET /api/day). When you view the results screen, your browser requests today’s leaderboard with the date as a query parameter. No personal data is sent. The server returns the top ten entries for that day: each is a two-word handle generated from our word list, a longest-rally count, and win/loss numbers.
Rally record (POST /api/rally). After a match, if you beat your personal best longest rally or your win/loss record changes, your browser sends two integers (indices into our word list, forming your handle), your longest rally count from that match, and whether you won. Nothing in this request identifies you — the handle is generated by the app from our own word list, not typed by you. The server stores these in a DynamoDB entry that expires after 7 days. No IP address, no user-agent, and no cookie is stored alongside the entry.
Mark map (POST /api/mark). When you share your mark map, your browser sends the ball-trace data from your match — a sequence of ball positions and spin values at each contact — and a downsampled representation of the court’s decal buffer. The server renders these into a PNG image and returns a share URL. The PNG is returned in the response; neither the PNG nor the raw data is stored after rendering. No personal data is encoded in the payload.
What stays on your device. Your wins, losses, personal longest rally, your generated handle (two integers), and your settings (quality tier, audio preference) are saved in your browser’s localStorage. None of this is sent to us automatically — only the rally record is sent, and only when you beat your personal best. If you clear your browser data, these are lost.
There is no text input anywhere in Claymark. You never type a name, a handle, or any free text. Every public artifact — the leaderboard row, the mark map, the share card — is generated entirely from data the game produces: a score we counted, marks we recorded, a handle from our word list.
Automated QA. Our automated quality-assurance tests send an X-Agency-Automation header on every request. When this header is present, the server reads and derives data as normal but skips persistence — no rally record is stored and no mark-map PNG is saved. Automated runs never become user data.
